Demand for alternatives to regular meat is surging due to concerns about health, animal welfare and the environment.
The so-called "clean meat", which is produced from cells grown in the laboratory, is still at a nascent stage.
"The world's first approval for 'high-quality meat' created from animal cells for human consumption paves the way for a large-scale commercial launch in Singapore", said Eat.
According to the American company, the meat will be sold in the form of chicken nuggets, and the details of the product launch will be announced at a later date. Earlier, however, the company estimated that each nugget would cost $50.
